Virtues of a Believer

There is no deed better than filling a hungry stomach.

Those who are killed defending their property die martyrs.

Those who are killed defending their family die martyrs.

Those who are killed defending their faith die martyrs.

Those who die in a foreign land die martyrs.

As God s favors to his servants increase, their responsibility to others increase.

Each and every one of you is a shepherd accountable for his flock.

Those who renounce the world bear afflictions with serenity.

Renouncing the world brings solace to heart and body, preoccupation with the world increases troubles and grief, and idleness hardens the heart.

Hear me! Many short lived pleasures bequeath long lasting grief.

Those who expect death are oblivious to ephemeral pleasures.

Be indifferent to the world and God will love you. Be indifferent to the possessions of others and they will love you.

God forgives those who forgive others.

Whenever a man forgives a transgression, God increases his standing.

God does not conceal a servant s fault in this world only to shame him with it on judgment day.

Forgive the noble their errors.

God rewards those who bear hardship with fortitude.

God says, When I afflict my servant s health, wealth, or children, and he accepts this with exemplary fortitude, I will be too embarrassed to weigh his deeds or divulge his ledger on judgment day.

Paradise will be home to the generous.

Those who are certain about the hereafter give generously.
